How to Play Pokemon Go

Pokemon Go is a location-based augmented reality game that was released in 2016. Since then, it has become a sensation among players all over the world. In the game, players can catch virtual Pokemon in the real world, battle in gyms, and trade with other players. If you’re new to the game, here’s a step-by-step guide on how to play Pokemon Go.

Step 1: Download and Install the Game

The first step is to download and install the game on your smartphone. Pokemon Go is available for both iOS and Android devices, and you can download it from the respective app stores. Once the game is installed, create an account or log in using your Google or Facebook account.

Step 2: Customize your Avatar

Once you’ve logged in, you can customize your avatar’s appearance, such as hairstyle, skin color, and clothing. You can also choose your starting Pokemon from the three available options – Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle.

Step 3: Learn the Basics

Pokemon Go has a tutorial that teaches you the basics of the game. It covers how to catch Pokemon, battle at gyms, and use items. You can skip the tutorial if you’re familiar with the game’s mechanics.

Step 4: Catch Pokemon

The objective of the game is to catch as many Pokemon as possible. To catch a Pokemon, you need to find one in the real world using your phone’s GPS. When you come across a Pokemon, tap on it to initiate a catching sequence. Swipe the Poke Ball towards the Pokemon to catch it. The higher the level of the Pokemon, the harder it is to catch.

Step 5: Battle at Gyms

After reaching level 5, you can join a team and battle at gyms. Gyms are virtual locations where you can fight other players’ Pokemon. The objective is to defeat the gym’s Pokemon and claim it for your team. You can also train at friendly gyms to increase their prestige and level.

Step 6: Collect Items

As you play the game, you’ll come across PokeStops, which are real-world locations that provide you with items such as Poke Balls, potions, and revives. Spin the PokeStop’s icon to collect the items.

Step 7: Trade with Other Players

Trading allows you to exchange Pokemon with other players. You need to be physically near the player you want to trade with and have a certain level of friendship. Trading can be a great way to acquire new Pokemon that you don’t have.
